"Hippo" sues Internet Date
Story on
Ananova about another predictable case of IRL woes.
Gabriel, 33, from Bucharest, told the National newspaper: "I expected to see a blonde, blue-eyed, slim beauty in front of me. But what I got was a gigantic hippo. She told me she weighed eight stones but she was more like 18."
Nicoleta, who's 29, says she's going to sue him for emotional distress.

Psych Test Answer
Sorry about the delay on the answer, I was suffering from brain-fade this week...
Lets see how you did:
She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again.
If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath.
If you didn't answer correctly - good for you.
If your friends hit the jackpot, may I suggest that you keep your distance.
This was a test by a famous American psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in this test and answered it correctly.

Blairwolf
Man or half-dog-man? Who can tell? Wasn't he supposed to be a Hawk or a Jackal? Forget that, let's have a fluffy bunny-rabbit next time.

Artithmetic curiosity
111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321 . Not really that amazing, obvious in fact, when you consider how multiplation works. But it looks cool.

JPEG Patent Update
The Register are running an interesting article indicating that
ISO are strongly considering
withdrawing the JPEG standard if
Forgent don't stop this ludicrous mucking about over its patent.
[quoting JPEG committee member Richard Clark ]
"Under ISO terms, formally you can only have a standard you can implement on free or RAND terms."
"Reasonable and non discriminatory (RAND) terms are typically published, and the same for everyone. It's clear that Forgent's claims are not RAND. $15 million doesn't sound like free to me, and Forgent is not publishing the terms of their licensing."

van Hoogstraten Guilty!
Evil bastard Nicholas van Hoogstraten has been found
guilty of Manslaughter. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Don't think his millions will be as much use to him in chokey. This has cheered me up no end. Details to be had over at the
BBC. Also an old
Guardian interview with the slimeball.
