It's Friday! Woo hoo! Must be time for another annoying Internet Test. Today is the turn of the Zovakware Lord of the Rings Character Test.

Saruman

Saruman

If I were a character in The Lord of the Rings, I would be Saruman, Wizard, the leader of the council of wizards.

In the movie, I am played by Christopher Lee.

Who would you be?

The Creator of The Taliban Singles Online Image owns up to 2020 Hindsight but wishes to remain anonymous. Probably wise! Nice one Mr TSO Creator, it still makes me laugh.

"Energizer Bunny to the unemployment lines"? Wired is carrying this article about a neat Miniture Gas Turbine Engine developed at Columbia University and touted as a replacement for traditional batteries.
"It will give 10 times the amount of power that is generated by the best lithium battery,"

"If you take a laptop battery for instance, it's just a bit bigger than a deck of cards. The engine would take up the space of, say, a quarter. The rest of the space would be for the fuel tank,"

"This fuel could last you for 24 hours and then, when empty, you can just refill the tank."
Intriquing...

Here's a spectacular rant about Harry Potter and the Nation of Dweebs (From The Washington Post opinion pages.) Hands up who thinks the author was a dweeb in school.

Tony Blair still seems to be pushing the Euro ( Story on BBC ) I've read reams of both the pro and anti literature and I'm still convinced EMU is unworkable without Political Union and that means a European Superstate. No guesses which way I'll be voting should there ever actually be a referendum. [Aside: it seems Tony is more than a little challenged in the spelling department, I'm not fully free of this affliction myself, nor are most people I know, but really..toomorrow! ]

Internet Censorship in China

No Peeking in Peking! (From the Register via The Melon Farmers)
"The Chinese Government has shut down 17,488 Internet cafes. The official reason for the closures is their failure to block sites considered subversive or pornographic. Another 28,000 Internet cafes must install monitoring software, required under Government regulations.."
Oooh, that nasty, nasty, subversive Internet!
